Independence Day!

When you think of the 4th of July the hot dog immediately comes to mind.

【Hot Dog】
German and Austrian immigrants brought these fat, long sausages and Italian immigrants introduced the concept on putting it between bread.
The collaboration of the two came to be in America and could be called a kind of fast food.

You can buy them on the street for about 2-3 dollars and are pretty satisfying.
However, when they are sold around museums and parks the prices spikes way above normal.
The 4th of July is all about hot dogs. At the seaside in New York City it is all about hot dogs.
A food that brings back many nostalgic memories is the hot dog.

By the way, up until recently Japan held the Guinness World Record for world’s longest hot dog but in 2008 was displaced by Mexico who made a 76 meter long hot dog.

The record for most hot dogs eaten was Takeru Kobayashi who ate 53 ¾ dogs.
However just one regular Nathan’s hot dog is big enough to make you full…

Log house

“I know how to make log houses! It’s because you left me alot of leftovers”

I never mentioned this, but in America’s pioneer history, log houses were indispensable.
This was the Swedish, Finnish, and other Scandinavian immigrants’ parting gift.
In the manga, during the 17th century, Finland and Sweden were kicked out of Delaware.

If you visit the richly green American and Canadian countryside, you’ll find it strewn with cute little log houses, be sure to go and see them if you ever have the chance.

Nordic

【Denmark】
A big-brother type who extremely vigorous. He’s pretty funny.
He likes his childhood friend Norway and believes that Norway thinks of him as a best friend too, but the truth is…

【Norway】
A mysterious young man that seems like he has little who depends on him and has an atmosphere like he had fallen from Ukiyo.
He somberly picks on Denmark but that guy never notices.
No matter what he says, Iceland is his little brother so he takes care of him.

[T/N: Ukiyo]

【Iceland】
A mysterious young boy with a cool exterior and a hot interior.
(Iceland is made up of ice on the surface and a volcano underneath, so the hot spring industry is pretty popular)
You can’t really tell if he yields to his older brother, and he’s pretty fantastic too.

【Finland】
Moi. It seems like he’s the really troubled one within these 5.

【Sweden】
……..

While I drew these, I was listening Fredrik Swahn’s version of “Du Gamla Du Fria” (the Swedish national anthem) that I bought off iTunes.
It’s a really good song!
I usually have “jana gana mana” (India’s national anthem) playing in my list.
This calms me down, too.
You can listen to either of those on iTunes so if you’re interested please check it out.
